About Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation

Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation (IIAM) is dedicated to promote the amicable and fair settlements of disputes. It aims to create an environment in which people can work together to find enduring solutions to conflicts and tensions. Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation provides facilities for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR),
which includes international and domestic commercial arbitration, mediation or conciliation and negotiation.
Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation provides professional mediation services for transnational business deals and disputes by
respective regional mediators.

TEAM COMPOSITION

Each participating team shall consist of one student as “Client” and one as “Counsel” as the client-counsel pair (referred to as the “Negotiators”). The respective roles cannot be interchanged during the entire competition.

COMPETITION STRUCTURE

There shall be one preliminary round from which 8 teams shall advance to the quarter finals and 4 shall further advance to the semi-finals and further 2 teams into the finals. The whole competition shall be held over an online platform Skype and each and every team is required to download the application for the smooth functioning of the competition.

COMPETITION PROPOSITIONS

Each round will involve a new proposition. Propositions for prelim round will be distributed on 5th August, 2020.

Each problem will consist of:
a. General information for all participants; and
b. Confidential information for each party will be distributed on the day of respective rounds prior to the session.

Any queries regarding the amended structure of the competition shall be addressed by the organising committee.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
  1. The registration form requires teams to specify the roles of each individual
    member. The roles which have been pre-assigned by the team will be
    carried forward throughout the competition. Change of roles after the
    registration will not be permitted.
  2. Participating teams of the competition will also be registered for the workshop by Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation on negotiation.
  3. Teams must complete the provisional registration by submitting the following
    form latest by 2nd August 2020.
  4. Teams must complete the payment of registration fee within a period of 48
    hours.
  5. The Registration Fee is Rs. 500/- per team, which is inclusive of workshop
    by Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation. Final registration of the
    teams is subject to the successful payment of the registration fee within the stipulated time.
  6. The registration is restricted to a maximum of 32 teams for this competition.
  7. The Registration will commence from 22nd July 2020. The interested students may provisionally register themselves with their respective teams at http://bit.do/NONC.

PRIZES & AWARDS

The Best Negotiating Pair shall be awarded with:
a. Cash Prize: Rs. 4,000/-
b. Winner’s Certificate of Merit.
c. Internship Opportunity at Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation.

The Best Negotiating Pair shall be awarded with-
a. Cash Prize: Rs. 3,000/-
b. Runner-up’s Certificate of Merit.

Certification of Participation shall be awarded to all the participants.
