About the seminar:

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.” – Mahatma Gandhi. Children are part of an unparalleled effort to establish and maintain a global community based upon universal but evolving standards of human decency, morality and dignity and welfare for children. There are a wide range of laws that guarantee children their rights and entitlement as provided in the Constitution and in the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. As part of the various plans numerous programmes have been launched by the government for development of Child rights such as Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), Nutrition Component of Prime Minister Gramodya Yojana, Nutrition Programme for children viz. for Adolescent Girls, Reproductive and Child Health Programme, Pulse Polio Immunization Programme, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, National Programme for education of girls at elementary level , Mid – day meal scheme, Juvenile justice programme, Scheme for working children, An Integrated Programme for Street Children – Childline Services, The National Rural Health Mission (2005- 12), National Child Labour Projects(NCLP). Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a small deposit scheme for girl child, as part of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign etc. In this seminar we have proposed to study as to what extent the International treaties adopted by States and whether various schemes taken by governments, international organizations/institutions , agencies non-governmental organizations are serving to the real beneficiaries or not? We have also planned to examine whether the welfare scheme made for them have benefited the children or not? If benefited what changes in their status have been brought about into and the requirements of the children which they need for their altogether development.

Objectives of the Seminar:

❖To study and assess the status and needs of the children.
❖To study important International Treaties and Indian Laws made for the upliftment of the children.
❖To analyse various International and National laws for the development of the children .
❖To discuss role of Non Governmental Organizations and social activities to promote Child rights and status of children.
❖ For assessment of the status of children brought about through various schemes taken in this regard.
❖ For educating public about the child rights and status of children.

❖Child Rights Monitoring and Governance –National and International Perspectives.
❖Policy and legislative frameworks providing protection and rehabilitation to children.
❖Health, Education and Nutritional rights for the children.
❖Protection of children under the criminal justice system.
❖Role of Judiciary in protecting child rights.
❖ Cyber Crimes and child rights.
❖Child Abuse – sexual abuse and Trafficking.
❖ Personal laws and status of children.
❖ Child labour – issues and concerns, migrant child workers, child labourers in hazardous industries.
❖ Refugee children – protection.
❖ Rights of special children – Differently abled, Mentally retarded, Autism.
❖Child Rights in developing and developed countries.
❖Child rights during armed conflicts.
❖Environmental challenges and child rights.
❖ Child rights in international crimes.

Call for papers:

Papers on the proposed theme and sub themes are invited. The abstract should not exceed more than 200 words. Full paper should not be less than 3000 words. Papers should be properly accompanied by references in APA style. Kindly mention sub themes along with your abstract. Selected papers will be published in an edited book with ISBN by a reputed national publisher.
