ABOUT THE WEBINAR SERIES

All India Legal Forum after conducting a couple of successful Webinar Series on “Cyber laws: Ecosystem of Bullies and Hackers” and “Intellectual Property Rights: An Overview and its Implications in the Pharmaceutical Industry”, now has come up with another webinar series on “Arbitration” as its main theme. It is scheduled to take place online on Google Meet on 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 26th of March, 2021. We bring this session to shed light on the significance of Arbitration and the laws applicable to Arbitration Agreements. Since Arbitration is generally the most effective and efficient remedy for settling the disputes among the parties as it decides the matters in a very short span of time without any recourse to the court, it is extremely important to understand the entire concept thoroughly. The growth of arbitration signifies the fundamental change in our way of legislating and deciding the matters in a very short span of time and the separate clauses within the commercial contract are paving the way for the most suitable and effective remedy without any recourse to the court We expect to make it an enjoyable and enriching experience for all the participants. Mr. ANDREW MILLER

Topic – The Relationship between Mediation and Arbitration & Litigation – Good friends or just casual acquaintances?

Mr. Andrew Miller is a Mediator and Arbitrator. He has been described as an ‘excellent mediator who has demonstrated ‘how mediation is support to work’. Andrew is both CEDR (Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator ) in 2014 and RICS (Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator) in 2019. Andrew also practices as a single panel Arbitrator and is a Fellow of the Charted Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). He is also ranked in legal directories. Andrew practices principally as a Mediator and Arbitrator, using his specialist expertise in commercial, construction, insurance, property damage and professional negligence disputes. Andrew has been involved in the mediation of disputes since 1996, when he undertook his first mediation in Singapore. He has experience of over 150 mediations and has been involved in mediations both domestically and internationally for over 20 years.

The Webinar titled The Relationship between Mediation and Arbitration & Litigation– Good friends or just casual acquaintances?’ shall discuss about the relationship between Arbitration, Mediation and Litigation along with identification of which one among the three, can be classified as the casual acquaintance, and which one of them can be considered as a good friend. Topic – The Singapore Mediation Convention and future of dispute resolution in India

Mr. Akash Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Law at NLUO. Akash Kumar is teaching Alternative Dispute Resolution to UG students and Law and Justice in a Globalized World to the PG students in NLUO. He worked for more than 3 years with MATS Law School, MATS University, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He did LLM from NALSAR University of Law in 2012, passed UGC-NET in December 2012.

The Webinar titled ‘The Singapore Mediation Convention and future of dispute resolution in India’ aims at discussing The Singapore Mediation and its future aspects and resolution in India. The resolution of cross border disputes with effective mediation is the core aspect of the convention, while promoting a treaty-based regime.
