ABOUT THE ORGANISERS

LawCuriae is a venture aiming to serve all law students as well as law aspirants by means of an online platform. The main idea is to assist every law student by providing them with the basic facility of learning online. At times there are students who find it difficult to understand what they are being taught in their respective law schools. We wish to provide a platform where all the subjects are taught, through videos being uploaded on YouTube by some of the best faculty, in order to help law students understand the concepts in a better way and additionally, unlike Law Schools/ Colleges, to provide not only theoretical knowledge but also a Practical Perspective to implement that theoretical knowledge. Through this venture, we also strive to make sure that students will be given an opportunity to improve or develop their legal skills, such as Mooting, Debate, Paper Presentation, Article Publishing, etc, without the institutional backing. In other words where there is no role of college.

ABOUT THE GUEST LECTURE

There has been an advancement in society and today the workforce of every sector comprises men as well as women, where women take equal participation at all levels of management and play all roles in a company that man is eligible for. They are a part of the organized as well as unorganized sectors. There is a need to provide all employee’s a safe and healthy working environment. To ascertain that their basic rights and dignity is protected at all time.

This Guest lecture would not only educate the participants about the laws and rights available to women at the workplace to make sure that they are safe, and the duties of the employers, but also talk about if there is any such unfortunate instance then what is to be done and what procedure is to be followed. It gives practical insight to “The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act,2013.”

THE SPEAKER OF THE DAY

Advocate Divya Chavan has Practiced at the Hon’ble High Court, Mumbai, and is currently handling matters involving Civil Law, Family Law, and Criminal Law (involving Women atrocities and child abuse) at District and Sessions Court, Pune and family Court, Pune. She has Co-Founded ‘Gendersense’ which aims at advising companies, educational institutes, and other allied institutes to incorporate and set up mechanism to deal with issues related to POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace). She is also an external member of various IC’s ( Internal Committees).

She has also represented India through the Rotary International Youth Exchange program to Brazil in the year 2003-to 2004.

In June 2019 she was chosen to present a Digital Poster/ Abstract on ‘ An Indian Perspective: Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace’ at the largest conference on Gender equality- ‘Women Deliver 2019’ held in Vancouver, Canada.
