About the institute

NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, is delighted to invite you to its 1st International Legal and Policy Conference on the Future of Transport, to be held on 2-3 February 2020 at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, India. The Centre for Aerospace and Defence Laws (CADL), NALSAR University is organizing a 2-day international conference in collaboration with the GMR Group, University of Mississippi School of Law, Sarin & Co., and the Indian Journal of Law and Public Policy.

The Centre has been established with the objective of promoting the development of aviation, space, defence and maritime laws. The objective of introducing this unique and value-added courses is to cater to the needs of unprecedented aviation, defence and maritime growth coupled with commercialization and privatization of the same.

About the conference

The major objective of organizing two days International Conference is to share knowledge and use of various aspects of the subject of the conference where eminent experts and scholars associated with aviation, space and transport laws will come together. The growing interest in national and international laws relation to the subject of air and space laws and its interface with related areas will be discussed.

The Two Days International Conference will discuss and deliberate on issues of topical matters relating to the themes of the conference. Several leading academicians, prominent industry professionals, experts, regulators, government officials, students and other stakeholders from different parts of India and abroad are expected to attend the conference on an invitational basis. The keynote speakers for the conference shall be the leading authorities in the aviation and space sectors.

This conference aims at debating a wide range of legal and policy issues relating to the aviation, space, and transport sector in general by experts coming from government, industry, legal and policy analysts, and academicians. The conference is unique as it is organised by law schools that have contributed to this field of law over many years through their teaching and research work. Equally befitting are the industry partners who are well versed with the business and legal challenges that the industry is facing today.

At the conference, we will announce the winners of the 1st APJ Abdul Kalam Air and Space Law and Policy Essay Competition, to which more than 30 participants from across the world contributed. The objective of this annual essay competition is to offer insight into pertinent issues and challenges in the fields of air and space law.

With this, the Centre for Aerospace and Defence Laws (CADL), NALSAR also invites the abstracts by 26th January 2020. The selected abstracts will be published in the Conference Souvenir. Authors of selected Abstracts shall submit final papers by 30th April 2020. Selected full-length papers will be published in NALSAR’s Indian Journal of Air and Space Law/ Edited Book.

NOTE: The abstract should be not more than 400-500 words and the full-length paper shall not be more than 5000 words, including footnotes.

Who should attend the conference?

Anyone interested in the area of transport (air, space, drones, urban mobility) is welcome to attend the conference. Primary audience to whom this conference will be of interest – Government, Industry, Media, Legal and Policy experts, Academia, students.
