ABOUT THE INSTITUTE:
Panjab University Regional Centre (PURC) has been established at the campus of P.U. Extension Library, Ludhiana w.e.f. the academic Session 2003-04. Prof. K.N. Pathak, then Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh took keen interest and fulfilled the long outstanding demand of the residents of Ludhiana and set up the Panjab University Regional Centre at Ludhiana. A sum of Rs. 100 Lakhs was provided for the construction of the academic block by Shri Lala Lajpat Rai, the then Member of Parliament, from the M.P. Local Area Development Fund Scheme. The Institute was formally inaugurated by His Excellency the Governor of Punjab, Justice O.P. Verma on 5th Oct. 2003.
A three year LL.B. Course in the evening was started at the Panjab University Regional Centre, P.U. Extension Library, Ludhiana, from the Session 2003-04 as a self-financing Course. The syllabus and Course contents are revised from time to time by the Faculty of Laws of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
A five years B.A (Honours) LL.B. course has been introduced from the academic session 2006-07 at this Centre as a self-financing course. The students are admitted on the basis of a C.E.T. conducted by the Panjab University, Chandigarh. The Syllabus and Course of the BALLB course at UIL, PURC, Ludhiana is the same as that prescribed by the Faculty of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh and same syllabus and examinations are followed as that followed by the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Chandigarh conducting the same course. Two year LLM Course has been introduced from the academic session 2015-2016 as a self-financing course.
ABOUT THE MODEL YOUTH PARLIAMENT:
University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana in lieu of celebrating 70th year of Constitution of India will be conducting a Model Youth Parliament on 28th – 29th February 2020. Since as enshrined under Article 51-A (a), It shall be the duty of every citizens of India to abide by the Constitution and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem. We would like to reminisce at this juncture the evolution and working of Indian Constitution. Model Youth Parliament is a concept which replicates the real parliamentary procedure where every participant is a representative of his constituency shall be discussing a bill and would be suggesting certain amendments for the same.
Model Parliament is a concept which replicates the real parliamentary procedure where every participant is a representative of his constituency. The Model Youth Parliament shall discuss the bill and make them in process of law. The bill will be introduced, debated upon, amended and finally passed or rejected as according to the simple majority.
The Model Parliament shall have:
- Leader of the house i.e., the Prime Minister;
- Leader of Opposition;
- Members of the cabinet, who will represent the government;
- Shadow members representing the opposition and;
- Prominent Members of the Parliament.
ELIGIBILITY & SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The students from various National Law Universities and High Schools are eligible to participate in MYP. This endeavour will be more productive because it will help in developing strong understanding of country’s politics and policies of the government.

REGISTRATION & SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The candidates have to fill up the google registration form available on our facebook page – “PURC Model Youth Parliament” or on the link provided above. The aspirants must note that there are no manual registrations.
The Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition, members of cabinet and the shadow ministers shall be selected on basis of interview conducted by the expert team. The portfolios to be assigned to each cabinet and shadow minister shall also be decided by the expert team only.
The candidates shall be selected for the interview on basis of the answers filled in the registration form. During the interview, the candidates shall be analysed by the expert team on his/her speaking skills, knowledge and aptitude.
The parliamentarians can communicate in both- English and Hindi language during the interview and the Parliament Session.
The registration fee for the event is Rs.1000/- per Parliamentarian.
Government Appreciated certificates, Meals, Delegate Kit, Paid Accomodation, and Cash rewards upto ₹10,000 for Best Parliamentarians and Various other titles. Prominent Members of the Parliament.
